Computer Reservations

Read This BEFORE Using Computers

  1. You may sign up to use any one of our 5 Internet/MS Office Suite computers (labeled 1 – 5) for up to one hour per day .  If all computers are in use, go to the Computer Reservation Station (purple stand-up station) and follow the posted directions to reserve the next available computer.  You may also use the 15 Minute Quick Check Computer – once per day – instead of or in addition to these computers.
  2. When you are finished, click the DONE  box.  Do NOT log off or shut down computer at any time.  If there are any problems with the computer, please get a librarian.
  3. If you need to leave the computer, click the  LOCK  box and set a password.  No one else will be able to use your computer.  If you do not lock the computer and it is inactive for 7 minutes your session will end.
  4. Do NOT move the equipment around.   Moving equipment can mean the loss of computer privileges.
  5. If a computer becomes available before your reservation time, you may use the open computer.  Log in and follow the instructions on the screen.  If you want to keep your reservation select keep existing reservation.  If you want to trade for a session now (it may be less than 60 minutes), select trade.

NOTE:  Our computers offer short sessions which can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 50 minutes.  If you use a short session, you cannot then reserve additional time.  For example:  at 10:00, PC1 says it is reserved for 10:30.  Click on the colored text and enter your library card number and last name.  The computer will offer you a 25 minute session instead of the typical 1 hour session.

To Log Into a Computer

  1. If you have a reservation, enter your library card number or code (with no spaces) in the box at the top right of the screen that says “reserved”.
  2. If you do not have a reservation and the computer says “available”, click on the word available, and enter your library card number (with no spaces) and last name in the spaces provided.  NOTE:  This also works if the screen says “reserved”, and you are logging in for a short session.
  3. Click OK and then “Use This Computer”.
  4. Read the Library’s Internet Use Policy and click “OK”.
  5. Click on the start button.  Do NOT click on “End” or your session will be over, and you will not be able to get back on.
  6. Select the icon of the program you want and click on it.  Headsets are available at the circulation desk if you wish to listen to audio on the computers.

IMPORTANT:  The timer box can be moved anywhere on the screen, but cannot be turned off.  If the timer disappears or is not there when you sit down, you must get a librarian or you may lose your turn on the computer.

To Print

  1. Click on the printer or print preview icons, or File/print.  NOTE:  It takes time to complete a printing transaction.  Do NOT wait until the last minutes of your session or you may lose your work.
  2. Hit the print button.  Click the “print” button.
  3. Enter your library card number and click OK.
  4. When you are finished, go to the circulation desk and wait in line for the next available librarian. Tell the librarian which computer you were using.  You may then pay for and pick up your printing.

NOTE:  Print jobs will disappear one hour from the time you send documents to the printer.  Be sure to pick up your printing before an hour passes, or it will be gone.
