2007-2008 Annual Report

Friends of the Greenfield Public Library

The Friends of the Greenfield Public Library held their annual meeting on June 26, 2008. Outgoing President Ann Dillon thanked the Friends who contributed over $35,000 to the Greenfield Public Library in fiscal year 2007-08.  Of this total, approximately $17,000 was raised from the annual Membership Drive and over $17,000 was raised by the Friends through special events throughout the year.  With these funds, the Friends provided over $10,000 of new reading, DVD and CD materials, supported all children and adult programming, purchased several museum passes, and funded the volunteer coordinator position. In addition, Friends’ monies were used to renovate the Children’s Picture Book Room and to build a new counter space and provide chairs for patrons’ wifi access.

Newly elected officers include Joseph Ruggeri, President and Ellen Berson, Vice President.  Continuing their terms as officers until June 2009 are Cindy Pomeroy, Corresponding Secretary; Hope Schneider, Recording Secretary; and Debbe Dugan, Treasurer.  Other returning board members include Marie Beeching, Bill Buchanan, Nancy Buchanan, Deb Deskavich, Ann Dillon, Richard Gordon, Roma Hansis, Jenny Hall, Lorraine Johnson, Karen Larabee, Cyndie Rothschild, Nicky Shipman.  The board welcomed new members, Eva Carrier, Don MacLeod, and Susan Platt.  The Friends have already begun preparations for their Fall Event “For The Birds” to be held on November 1st at 5pm at Stoneleigh Burnham School.
