First Wednesday Speaker Series: Holocaust Collection and Education Center
Darrell English will share items from his personal collection of Nazi artifacts; 3,000 photos, propaganda posters, passports and uniforms of soldiers and prisoners that have been displayed to document the systematic killing of citizens by the Nazi regime during the 1930s and '40s. Formerly the director of The New England Holocaust Institute, English, who has no Jewish heritage, was born in North Adams and housed his museum there and focuses on outreach and education. “My vision is this:" he said, "to eventually have a museum big enough to tell the full story, side by side: WWII, and the buildup of the Nazi Party and the Holocaust. So that people get a clear visual of what went on,” he said.
