This fall, Greenfield Public Library, in collaboration with Greenfield Community College and Greenfield High School, is participating in the community-reading project "Reading for Change." Together we will read Jamil Zaki's groundbreaking book: The War for Kindness: Building Empathy in a Fractured World.

In The War for KIndness, Zaki describes research-informed strategies for increasing kindness and empathy in a world characterized by racial inequality, political polarization and decreasing trust in social institutions.

Join us for a panel discussion, on Thursday, October 21, at 6 pm, with local experts on empathy work in a variety of settings including criminal justice, education and health care. This event will cover chapters 4-6 of The War for Kindness.

Copies of the book are available at the Greenfield Public Library.
