The Children's Room is a fun and welcoming space for children ages 0 to 12. Stop by and check out our excellent selection of books for young readers, which has everything from vibrant picture books and early readers to thrilling chapter books and graphic novels. Kids are also welcome to access the library computers to explore online, do research, or work on homework assignments and other school projects. The children's room hosts several events every week, so be sure to check the GPL calendar for upcoming storytimes, drop-in playgrounds, arts and crafts projects, and other fun activities. We hope to see you here soon!
Children under 8 years old must be within the immediate vicinity of their parent/caregiver at all times while in the library. Children ages 8 to 10 are allowed to be unaccompanied in the Children's Room as long as their parent/caregiver is within the library building and has checked in with the Children's librarian.
Anyone 13 years or older is only welcomed to access the Children's Room if they are accompanying a child who is 12 years old or younger or if they are entering the space to borrow materials or ask a librarian for assistance.
Children of any age are able to register for a Greenfield Public Library library card; however, children under the age of 13 must have a parent or guardian present to provide a signature, proof of address, and emergency contact information.
Our library staff are happy to assist you with registering for a library card or checking out materials. If you have a library card, you can also use one of our self checkout machines located at the entrance of the library or in the Children's Room.
Children are allowed to use the computers in the Children's room to access materials, do research, or play games. Children who are 6 years old or younger must be supervised by an adult at all times while using the library computers. While using the computers please be mindful in adhering to the acceptable use policy for the computers and internet.
