Mayor William Martin is pleased to announce that the Greenfield Public Library Building Committee has selected Johnson Roberts Associates of Somerville, Massachusetts, to design the town’s new library.
Founded in 1996 by J. Stewart Roberts, Johnson Roberts specializes in public library design and has provided design services and feasibility studies to 60 communities, and completed construction of 27 public libraries.
Stew Roberts, founding principal of Johnson Roberts states: “The library is an iconic symbol of community and an important contributor to a town’s identity and culture. Our libraries are designed to act as a gathering place for their communities. We place special emphasis on the creation of spaces appropriate to everyone in the community: children, teens, adults, and seniors.”
Johnson Roberts Associates has assisted dozens of towns in Massachusetts with successful applications for millions of dollars in construction grant money distributed by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Johnson Roberts is committed to designing environmentally responsible and high performance buildings. The firm includes LEED accredited personnel and many of their public library projects have achieved or are seeking LEED certification.
